Browns Agriculture division, a pioneer in agricultural mechanisation in Sri Lanka, was established in 1892 to cater the needs of the agricultural industry and the local farming community through a variety of high quality products such as a range of tractors, combine harvesters and other implements. Browns Agriculture covers the entire length and breadth of agriculture by serving finest quality farming solutions and empowering farming customers to work towards an increased farm productivity, prosperity and profits.

With the widest distributor network in the industry with 130 plus dealers and 11 Browns Showrooms, Browns Agriculture is recognized for the exceptional after service provided through 60 plus service dealers, 35 field technicians and 11 mobile service units. Browns Agriculture division owns an undisputed market share of 58% and boasts of the highest dealer network in agriculture industry in Sri Lanka.

Engineering expertise has been one of the core values of Browns for its rich history of over 142 years of operation in Sri Lanka. It has given us the capability to thrive in the power generation industry of Sri Lanka as a market leader.

Power Generation sector comprises of the Battery Division, Power Systems Division and the General Trading Division. All three divisions are key Strategic Business Units of the Browns Group of Companies and have been operating in the Sri Lankan market for several decades.

The Marine & Manufacturing sector comprises of Browns Group Industries (Pvt) Ltd. (BGIL) and Browns Thermal Engineering (Pvt) Ltd. (BTEL). BGIL comprises of the Marine and Leisure Division which markets marine engines and marine gear, and the Boiler division that markets leading brands of boilers. BTEL is the only large-scale manufacturer of heat exchangers in Sri Lanka and has taken steps to enter into the export market as well.

Browns Home and Office sector consists of the Integrated Business Solutions (IBS) and the Consumer divisions. It markets a range of office automation and related products and has been a key player in this market segment for over four decades, marketing several leading brand names including Sharp, Giesecke and Devrient, Scan Coin, Vivitec, Pitney Bowes, Oce, Olympus and its own brand ‘BG.

Browns Pharmaceuticals sector consists of three divisions such as Veterinary pharmaceuticals, Human pharmaceuticals and Nutraceuticals & Cosmetics. The sector initially began with venturing into the Veterinary industry with the marketing of Vetzyme pet animal vitamin range, and has gradually expanded over the years to offer services for Human Pharmaceuticals and Nutraceutical & cosmetics industry. In addition, Browns Pharmaceuticals has adopted a product differentiation strategy to expand its range of products and services to target different customer segments and has focused on entering other market such as, in veterinary pharmaceuticals into the aqua and dairy/dairy machinery/ other related market and in Human Pharmaceuticals we have focused to enter medical equipments, cardiovascular ,anti-canser and oncology product markets . Today, the Browns Pharmaceuticals division has broadened its product portfolio from Vet Pharma, Medical Device, Human pharmaceuticals, Nutraceuticals and Cosmetics and Consumer.

Identifying significant potential in the sector, the Group ventured into the Healthcare sector through its subsidiary Brown & Company PLC in 2013.

The Group inaugurated the Browns Hospital as a fully fledged, 70-bed, multi-speciality general hospital equipped with the latest technology in medical diagnostics and surgery. It also operates a fully equipped medical laboratory services. Whilst the emphasis of the Hospital would be on maternity care, general surgery and high-end radiology services; the Hospital is also being developed as a centre of excellence for emergency medical care.

The healthcare sector was established with the aim of setting up a chain of secondary care General hospitals and diagnostic centres to deliver comprehensive healthcare services for patients outside the hub of Colombo. Our entry into the healthcare sector builds on Brown and Company’s long established reputation for quality and reliability and is with the objective of ensuring that patients receive state-of-the-art, personalised integrated clinical care. The Company is currently exploring opportunities to set up the second in its chain of hospitals out of Colombo, and the Group envisages operating a total of three hospitals by year 2018. We will focus on ensuring that Browns is at the cutting edge of technology in medical care and surgery.

The Group will also embark on setting up a network of medical laboratories in different parts of the country, expanding outwards from the advanced medical laboratory at the Ragama hospital.
